One of the most important principles to investing (or at least one I choose to live by) is that of diversification- this is the 'don't put all your eggs in one basket.' So you want to spread it about a bit, so if there's an upset in one area, then your whole portfolio isn't wiped out.
Susan Jeffers recommends the same for the living of life. Get a piece of paper and divide it into 9 or so squares and in each one, write an area of life and seek to have something in it- e.g. relationship, family, career, spiritual development, fun time etc... As you cultivate a full life, then when a relationship or your job or something happens to one of those areas of life, you're not completely wiped out. You've got other things to keep you buoyant. Keep a balance of all things, too much of one thing can make us lopsided- emotionally and/or physically. But a full, balanced ship of life- it doesn't get much more exquisite than that! All is well!!! Happy eggs-ing!!!
