My friend and I were discussing his kid and how best to raise such a wonderful young being. Personally, as I didn't/don't receive much parental praise I would far lean towards over praising the child, that and combined with my knowledge of how powerful it is to express such appreciations really would line me up to have such a disposition.
My friend agreed somewhat but had read that one shouldn't praise too much as the kid gets too reliant upon that and then when they join the real world and not everyone is so kind, the kid would get demotivated and wouldn't flourish.
Interesting! I kinda have to see the point in this logic. It's teaching them to become dependent on an external for positive reinforcement.
I still would lean towards that as I can't help it, but I think the extra element there, is to teach the kid to look for things with which they could praise themselves. In an ideal world, that would be the ultimate! To have a being who could self generate a positive focus so they didn't need a parent, teacher, friend, society to prop them up emotionally. That would be cool!
Anyhoo, parenting ain't that easy in practise but you do what you gotta do! They can take care of themselves and you ain't responsible for anyone but yo'self!
All is well!!!
